Our Homes: Our Groundwater Lodge and Yaralla Place communities are located in the heart of the charming, well-preserved colonial town of Maryborough, just a short drive from Queensland’s pristine beaches and the beauty of Hervey Bay.
Groundwater Lodge is a 60-bed home, while Yaralla Place is a 96-bed home. Both communities are thoughtfully designed into smaller households that reflect the comfort, familiarity, and rhythm of home.
Your Role: We are seeking an experienced and passionate Catering Manager / Head Chef to join our aged care communities in a full-time, Monday to Friday role. In this hands-on position, you will lead the kitchen team in delivering high-quality, nutritious meals that support the health and wellbeing of our residents across both Groundwater Lodge and Yaralla Place, operating from a central kitchen located at Groundwater Lodge.
You will oversee menu planning, stock control, and compliance with food safety standards, ensuring every meal is prepared with care, flavour, and variety. As the leader of day-to-day kitchen operations, you will supervise and roster catering staff while fostering a positive and collaborative team culture. With a strong focus on fresh, homestyle cooking, you will work closely with residents and care staff to accommodate individual dietary needs and create a dining experience that truly feels like home.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the catering team to maintain consistently high standards in food preparation and service
- Plan and create seasonal, nutritious, and appetising menus that meet residents’ dietary needs and preferences
- Ensure full compliance with Aged Care Quality Standards, food safety regulations, and HACCP requirements
- Engage with residents to understand their meal preferences and continuously enhance the dining experience
- Oversee kitchen operations, including budgeting, stock control, and staff training, to ensure efficiency and quality
What You’ll Bring - Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or higher
- Food Safety Certificate (mandatory)
- Minimum two years of experience in a similar catering or chef role
- Strong leadership skills with experience in managing a kitchen team
- Knowledge of aged care dietary requirements, including texture-modified diets and food-based supplementation
- A passion for providing high-quality meals that contribute to a homely and enjoyable dining environment
- Hold a current NDIS Check (or willing to obtain)
