About the Role As a Senior Payroll Officer, you'll manage end-to-end payroll services for multiple clients across a range of industries, acting as a trusted payroll partner and ensuring accuracy, compliance, and exceptional service delivery.
This is a hands-on role where you'll combine technical payroll expertise with outstanding client service to deliver high-quality outcomes and build trusted relationships.
You will work closely with clients, employees, and internal stakeholders to ensure payroll operations run smoothly, efficiently, and compliantly.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end payroll processing for a portfolio of managed payroll clients across weekly, fortnightly, and monthly pay cycles.
- Process payroll accurately and compliantly, including timesheets, allowances, leave, superannuation, deductions, and reconciliations.
- Calculate and administer employee entitlements including Long Service Leave, annual leave, personal leave, terminations, and final pay calculations.
- Interpret and apply Modern Awards, Enterprise Agreements, and employment legislation, with experience in SCHADS and/or Nurses Award highly regarded.
- Ensure compliance with Fair Work requirements, Single Touch Payroll (STP), superannuation obligations, and legislative updates.
- Act as a trusted payroll partner for clients, providing responsive support and guidance on payroll-related matters.
- Maintain payroll records and employee data within Employment Hero Payroll (KeyPay) and Xero Payroll.
- Prepare payroll reporting, reconciliations, and year-end payroll activities.
- Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, systems, automation, and client outcomes.
- Contribute to the ongoing growth and success of WorkTrybe's Managed Payroll Services division.
About You You're an experienced payroll professional who enjoys variety, values flexibility, and thrives in a client-facing environment.
You have a strong understanding of payroll compliance, enjoy solving problems, and take pride in delivering accurate, high-quality outcomes.
Essential Experience
- Minimum 3 years' experience in end-to-end payroll processing.
- Strong experience using Employment Hero Payroll (KeyPay).
- Strong experience using Xero Payroll.
- Experience managing payroll across multiple entities or clients.
- Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation and compliance requirements.
- Experience processing Long Service Leave and employee terminations.
- Strong reconciliation and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Highly Desirable
- SCHADS Award experience.
- Nurses Award experience.
- Experience within healthcare, disability, aged care, community services, labour hire, or outsourced payroll environments.
- Experience working within a managed services or payroll bureau environment.
- Employment Hero implementation or advanced payroll configuration experience.
