Our client operates within the transport sector, supporting a large, operational workforce in a fast-paced, highly unionised environment. They are focused on strengthening leadership capability and driving a more proactive approach to industrial and employee relations.
About the Role
This is a true HR Business Partner role with a strong industrial relations focus, partnering closely with operational leaders in a complex, unionised environment.
You will play a key role in managing employee and industrial relations matters while also coaching leaders to improve capability and reduce reliance on reactive escalation.
Day to day you will
Partner with leaders to provide day to day HR, ER and IR support
Manage a high volume of complex ER/IR matters, including investigations, grievances and disputes
Support leaders in navigating union interactions and industrial matters
Coach and influence leaders to proactively manage performance, conduct and workplace issues
Build strong, credible relationships across operational stakeholder groups
Work closely with a central Workplace Relations team on complex IR matters
About You
Minimum 5 years’ experience in an HR Business Partner role
Strong experience working in a highly unionised environment with exposure to industrial relations
Proven capability managing complex ER/IR case management, including investigations and disputes
Confidence engaging with unions and supporting leaders through industrial matters
Experience partnering with operational or frontline leaders
Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills
Ability to coach leaders through difficult conversations and performance management
Resilient and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
Experience within a 24/7 operational environment is highly desirable
Backgrounds in transport, logistics, healthcare, utilities or other regulated environments will be highly regarded
Relevant tertiary qualification in HR, Business or a related field
