WorkTrybe have been retained to partner with a long-standing national client to appoint an experienced People & Culture Manager to lead their ACT portfolio. This is a hands-on, business-facing HR leadership role supporting a large operational workforce across complex, diverse sites including aviation, government, and health.
As part of a high-performing national P&C team, you'll partner closely with operational leaders to drive performance, engagement, and compliance outcomes - balancing strategic HR initiatives with practical, day-to-day delivery.
The Opportunity
This role offers the chance to:
- Take ownership of a key region (approximately 800 employees) with both strategic and operational breadth
- Lead a small, capable local team including a P&C Coordinator, Clearance Specialist, and Trainer
- Influence workforce culture across a mix of unionised and government environments
- Be a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders - balancing diplomacy, commercial acumen, and HR rigour
- Contribute to national HR initiatives and projects in a collaborative, high-calibre team
Key Responsibilities - Partner with operational and business leaders to deliver people strategies aligned with organisational goals
- Provide coaching and support on employee relations, performance management, and engagement
- Oversee onboarding, and workforce planning for the ACT portfolio
- Support and lead complex industrial relations matters, including interpretation of awards and enterprise agreements
- Drive consistency in HR processes, documentation, and compliance across the region
- Champion workplace health, safety, and wellbeing initiatives
- Mentor and develop a small HR team to grow capability and future leaders
- Based onsite full time for at least the probationary period, with the option for one day WFH once up to speed.
About You
You'll bring:
- Proven experience as a senior HR practitioner or P&C Manager in a large, multi-site or service-driven business
- Strong employee relations and industrial relations expertise, ideally with union exposure
- Experience managing Fairwork cases, collating and presenting detailed documentation
- A practical, commercial mindset - comfortable operating in both strategic and hands-on contexts
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to influence at all levels
- A collaborative, grounded leadership style and the confidence to provide robust feedback where needed
- Highly transferable industries include; Health/Aged care, Manufacturing, Transport, Logistics and other blue collar, unionised environments
- Tenure in your work history to be able to demonstrate strategic HR deliverables over time
- Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, IR, or a related discipline.
