The Opportunity
Join a pioneering team that has successfully implemented cutting-edge battery energy storage systems to unique and remote clients including mine sites and oil rigs across Australia and internationally. Due to the success of these projects, exciting commercial opportunities have emerged that our client is now seeking to maximise.

This role offers the chance to work hands-on with BESS and UPS technology from tender stage through to commissioning and ongoing support. You'll be involved in factory and site acceptance testing, commissioning activities, quality assurance, and providing technical expertise throughout the project lifecycle. This is your opportunity to play a vital role in a department that forms the backbone of power delivery services to critical infrastructure clients.

For the right candidate willing to relocate to Sydney, interstate applicants will be considered.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake commissioning activities and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) of BESS/UPS equipment at client locations in Australia and internationally
• Conduct Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) of BESS/UPS equipment at workshops in Sydney and NSW Central Coast
• Collaborate closely with the BESS/UPS Engineering team during design and programming phases
• Provide technical support to project delivery teams throughout construction, commissioning and handover
• Deliver phone/online support and remote diagnostics to customers, maintaining strong client relationships
• Conduct safety in design risk assessments and manage regulatory approvals
• Collaborate with global teams in Japan and USA to understand and deploy ESS technology effectively
• Liaise with key industry stakeholders including TNSPs/DNSPs, AEMO, and Certification Bodies

Essential Requirements

• Minimum 5+ years' experience in renewable energy, energy storage and/or UPS applications
• Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering preferred (or suitable technical qualifications with relevant background)
• Strong understanding of safe working practices within electrical commissioning environments
• Technical knowledge of power systems components including BESS, UPS, inverters, generators, switchgear and transformers
• Understanding of electrical equipment connection to Islanded Micro grids or National Electricity Market (NEM)
• Experience troubleshooting PLC or microprocessor-based controls (Toshiba/Wago/Siemens PLC)
• Highly developed fault-finding and diagnostic skills
• Experience working on electrical transmission & distribution sites in engineering/commissioning capacity
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Willingness to travel and work on-site away from home (4-8 weeks per year)
• Australian Driver's License (essential)
