Lead Control Systems Engineer | Mining and Industrial Automation

We are partnered with a leading engineering consultancy delivering complex projects across mining, mineral processing, and infrastructure. With a strong pipeline of secured work across both greenfield and brownfield projects, they are looking to appoint a Lead Control Systems Engineer to take ownership of technical delivery and support the growth of the team.
This is a true lead role with full responsibility for control systems scope across major projects.

The Role
You will be responsible for end-to-end delivery of control systems across multiple projects, from design through to commissioning. The role combines hands-on engineering with technical leadership.

Key responsibilities include:

• Lead control systems design across mining and industrial projects
• Take ownership of PLC and SCADA scope within projects
• Develop control strategies and system architectures
• Deliver PLC and SCADA programming using platforms such as Rockwell, Siemens, or Schneider
• Produce high-quality technical documentation including specifications, reports, and procedures
• Lead commissioning activities and ensure systems perform as designed on site
• Mentor and support junior to mid-level engineers
• Engage with clients and stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes

What You Will Bring

• Degree in Electrical, Mechatronic, or related Engineering discipline
• Strong PLC and SCADA programming experience
• Proven experience delivering projects within the Australian mining sector
• Ability to interpret electrical schematics and develop control system designs
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Confident communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Experience leading technical delivery within project environments

Highly Regarded

• Experience in mineral processing or bulk materials handling
• Exposure to stockyard systems including stackers, reclaimers, and shiploaders
• Knowledge of IT and OT networking, virtualisation, or industrial systems
• Additional programming skills such as Python, PowerShell, or VBA
• Functional safety experience
