Machine Learning Engineer | Sensors, Computer Vision, AI | Python, C++/Go | Sydney, Hybrid
  
I’m looking for a talented Engineer, experienced in building advanced AI systems designed to operate in complex, high-pressure environments where real-time decision-making matters.
  
Here, you will develop and deploy machine learning models that process and interpret data from multiple sensor streams, contributing to intelligent systems capable of detecting, classifying, and responding to dynamic events in real time.
  
This is a complex & challenging role which sits at the intersection of applied research and production engineering.
  
Machine Learning Engineer Responsibilities

• Design and implement machine learning models across vision, RF, acoustic, or other sensor modalities
• Build and refine model training pipelines, including data preparation and feature engineering
• Develop scalable workflows for experimentation, validation, and deployment
• Optimise models for low-latency inference in resource-constrained environments
• Benchmark model performance using structured evaluation methodologies
• Collaborate with backend and systems engineers to integrate models into distributed production systems
• Improve model robustness and stability through monitoring and post-deployment analysis
• Contribute to architectural decisions for AI infrastructure and long-term ML capability

  
Machine Learning Engineer Requirements

• Industry experience in machine learning or applied AI engineering
• Strong Python development skills
• Experience with modern deep learning frameworks (e.g. PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX or similar)
• Experience designing and maintaining reproducible ML pipelines
• Experience working with GPU acceleration and high-performance computing environments
• Understanding of model evaluation metrics and validation strategies
• Experience deploying models into production environments
• Comfortable working in Linux-based systems
• Experience with containerisation (e.g. Docker or similar tools)

  
Nice to Have

• Experience working with multi-modal data
• Familiarity with distributed training or edge deployment
• Exposure to C++ or other performance-oriented languages
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines for ML systems
• Background in signal processing, embedded systems, or real-time analytics
