An Australian R&D and manufacturing company developing advanced defence and aerospace systems is expanding its engineering team and is now hiring a Mechanic to support the build, integration, and testing of high-performance engine systems used in advanced applications. They are located in Adelaide, SA.
 
In this role, you'll work hands-on with modified automotive engines (such as V8 LS3s) adapted for use in high-tech defence projects. The focus is on diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing engines to ensure reliable operation during testing and development. You'll collaborate closely with engineers and technicians in a practical, fast-paced environment.
 
Key Responsibilities

• Disassemble, inspect, and repair modified automotive engines
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical performance issues
• Support modifications involving wiring, cabling, and harness integration
• Assist during testing and provide hands-on mechanical support
• Collaborate with engineers and technicians to maintain optimal engine performance
• Maintain a safe, organised, and efficient workspace

Requirements

• Trade-qualified Automotive Mechanic (or equivalent hands-on experience)
• Strong knowledge of automotive engines, ideally V8s such as LS3
• Skilled in fault finding, repair, and performance tuning
• Basic understanding of wiring, harnessing, and electrical work
• Reliable, safety-conscious, and collaborative
• Must be an Australian citizen

Desirable (Not Essential)

• Experience in performance tuning, motorsport, or prototype engine testing
• Background in defence, automotive, or aerospace engineering environments
• Familiarity with data logging or test instrumentation
