An Australian R&D and manufacturing company developing advanced laser and optical technologies is expanding its team and is now hiring an Embedded Software Engineer to design and develop software systems for innovative manufacturing and fabrication technologies.

You will work closely with hardware and optical engineers to create software solutions that control lasers, motion systems, and optical devices. The role involves designing algorithms, integrating hardware and software, and building tools that enable precise and reliable operation of complex systems.

This is a full-time position based in Melbourne.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop software to control lasers, optics, and motion systems.
• Build automation and control systems for high-precision manufacturing applications.
• Develop algorithms to optimise system performance and hardware integration.
• Work with hardware and optical engineers to deliver seamless hardware-software solutions.
• Document software designs, implementation plans, and testing procedures.

Requirements

• Proficiency in programming languages such as C#, Java, or Python.
• Experience developing automation or control software for hardware systems.
• Familiarity with algorithm development for real-time applications.
• Strong problem-solving skills and experience in multidisciplinary engineering environments.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Desirable but not essential

• Experience with MATLAB, LabVIEW, or similar tools for hardware interfacing.
• Background in photonics, robotics, or advanced manufacturing systems.
• Exposure to R&D environments involving hardware-software integration.
