Job Title: Senior Automation Engineer – Baggage Handling Systems

About the Role We are seeking an experienced Senior Automation Engineer with proven, hands-on experience in Baggage Handling Systems (BHS). In this role, you will be responsible for designing, programming, and commissioning automated control systems that drive efficient baggage operations across airport infrastructure projects.

This is a critical hire for our team, and Baggage Handling System experience is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver end-to-end automation solutions for Baggage Handling Systems – including concept design, PLC programming, and system commissioning.
• Develop, test, and implement PLC logic using Rockwell (ControlLogix), Siemens (S7/TIA Portal), and Omron platforms.
• Create and configure HMI and SCADA systems for control, monitoring, and fault diagnostics.
• Lead onsite commissioning, testing (FAT/SAT), and integration activities in live airport environments.
• Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams including mechanical, electrical, and IT to deliver high-reliability systems.
• Conduct root cause analysis and troubleshooting during system faults or commissioning phases.
• Ensure compliance with airport operational standards, safety requirements, and project specifications.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation including I/O schedules, control philosophies, and test procedures.

Must-Have Skills & Experience

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in automation engineering within Baggage Handling Systems – this is a non-negotiable requirement.
• Advanced proficiency in PLC programming: Rockwell ControlLogix (Studio 5000), Siemens S7/TIA Portal, and ideally Omron.
• Practical experience working on live airport sites, including integration and commissioning.
• Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols (Profinet, Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP).
• Proven ability to work under pressure in mission-critical environments such as aviation or logistics hubs.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to liaise with clients, site teams, and subcontractors.
