About your new role:  
 
Due to continued growth within our business, we are seeking an experienced workshop-based Fitter/Machinist to join our high performing team in our Gladstone branch.   
 
Within this role, your responsibilities will include:

• Performing allocated work to the required standards within agreed timeframes.
• Reading and interpreting job specifications, technical drawings and schematics.
• Operating heavy machinery using hand tools and lifting equipment etc.
• Making sketches or manufacturing parts to drawings.
• Maintaining equipment, tools and work area to a high standard.
• Maintaining documentation and service records as per procedure.
• Directing and mentoring apprentices where required.
• General mechanical fitting work as required; and
• Performing work safely and comply with WHS procedures.
• Repairs and reconditioning of hydraulic cylinders used in a variety of applications. 
• Disassembly, inspection, measuring and reporting on components. 
• Assembly and testing of cylinders; Maintaining documentation and service records as per procedure

  What you need to succeed:

• Relevant Trade Qualifications: Machinist or First-Class Machinist.
• Experience working within a workshop environment and knowledge of machining procedures.
• Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and engineering drawings.
• Experience operating manual lathe and milling machines.
• Work to fine tolerances with speed, accuracy and attention to detail.
• Proficient with Internal and external screw cutting, boring and grooving.
• Experience in machining a broad range of materials.
• Forklift ticket and MIG welding experience (desirable).
• Effective communication, time management and organisational skills.
• Valid driver’s licence, own transport and a demonstrated safety-first mindset.
