The Organisation:
Join a well-respected Queensland Government department and become part of an established finance team responsible for delivering accurate and timely financial reporting. This six-month contract offers an excellent opportunity to gain further government experience, with potential for extension.

The Position:
As the Financial Accountant, you will take ownership of key financial accounting and month-end activities. Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing advice on financial accounting matters, policies, guidelines and systems
• Supporting month-end processes including journals, bank reconciliations and accruals
• Assisting with the preparation and review of financial reports
• Managing accounting requirements relating to fixed asset acquisitions and disposals
• Reviewing financial data and investigating discrepancies
• Supporting finance projects and data migration activities as required

Your Profile:
This position will suit an experienced Financial Accountant who can confidently work across month-end and broader financial accounting responsibilities. You will ideally have:

• Strong technical financial accounting skills
• Experience with journals, reconciliations, accruals and financial reporting
• Strong Excel skills and the ability to work with large volumes of data
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines
• Experience working within a large or complex organisation
• ERP systems experience, with SAP highly regarded
• CPA/CA qualifications or progress towards qualification will be advantageous

Previous Queensland Government experience will be highly regarded; however, candidates coming from a commercial environment with strong financial accounting experience are also encouraged to apply.
