A well-established and growing WA-owned mining and civil contractor is seeking an experienced People & Culture Manager to lead the business’s HR function during an exciting phase of growth and operational expansion.
This is a senior leadership role suited to someone who enjoys being both strategic and hands-on — partnering closely with operational leaders while building scalable people systems, culture initiatives, workforce capability, and compliant HR frameworks across a multi-site workforce.
You’ll play a key role in shaping the future workforce of the business and driving a strong, values-led culture across operations.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the Corporate Services Director, you will lead and oversee all areas of People & Culture across the business, supporting operational performance through effective workforce planning, employee relations, leadership support, compliance, and organisational development.
This role will suit someone who thrives in operational environments and understands the pace and complexity of mining, civil construction, infrastructure, or heavy industry workforces.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver the full HR function across operational and corporate teams
- Partner with senior leadership on workforce planning and organisational capability
- Manage employee and industrial relations matters including performance management, investigations, grievances, and disciplinary processes
- Ensure compliance with Fair Work legislation, awards, enterprise agreements, and company policies
- Lead end-to-end recruitment for operational, technical, and corporate positions
- Develop retention, engagement, and succession planning initiatives
- Oversee onboarding and mobilisation processes for site-based personnel
- Drive leadership development and training programs
- Maintain and improve HR systems, reporting, governance, and workforce analytics
- Support a positive, inclusive, and safety-focused workplace culture
- Contribute to change management and business growth initiatives
About You To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Previous HR leadership or senior generalist experience within mining, civil construction, infrastructure, or a similar operational industry
- Strong knowledge of Australian employment legislation, industrial relations, and workforce compliance
- Experience supporting multi-site or project-based workforces
- Confidence managing complex employee relations matters
- Strong stakeholder engagement and leadership coaching capability
- A practical, solutions-focused approach with the ability to operate strategically and operationally
- Experience with workforce planning, mobilisation, and operational recruitment
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust across all levels of the business
- Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Business, or a related discipline
