The Senior Project Manager (SPM) is accountable for the successful end to end delivery of complex digital and cloud projects within a professional services environment. The role is responsible for driving predictable project outcomes across scope, schedule, cost, quality and customer satisfaction while ensuring strong financial performance aligned to Brennan’s delivery and governance frameworks.
The SPM operates as a senior delivery leader, trusted by executive and customer stakeholders, responsible for proactively managing risk, resolving delivery challenges, and ensuring cloud programs and projects are returned to plan when variance occurs. This role leads cross functional professional services delivery teams, comprising cloud, infrastructure and end user experience consultants, to deliver complex digital initiatives including cloud platforms, infrastructure modernisation, migration and transformation programs
The SPM is a key contributor to ongoing continual improvement, providing thought leadership in delivery and governance capability and leveraging AI and technology to improve delivery productivity, quality of project outcomes and client experience.
Please note this role can work from any of Brennan's Australian offices - Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Newcastle, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth or Hobart. ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES Project Delivery Leadership, Control & Outcomes - Lead a variety of concurrent professional services projects within the Infrastructure, Cloud and End User Experience Practice ranging from 1-2mth engagements through to complex, multi stream and phased roadmap of initiatives.
- Own accountability for delivery outcomes across assigned cloud and digital projects, ensuring contractual, commercial, and customer objectives are met.
- Establish clear delivery baselines for scope, schedule, budget and resources, and maintain disciplined governance throughout the project lifecycle.
- Proactively identify, assess and manage Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies and Decisions (RAIDD) throughout the project lifecycle. Maintaining high quality, auditable registers that provide transparency for internal governance and reporting.
- Drive mitigation strategies and contingency planning, escalating material risks early with clear options, trade-offs and recommendations.
- Enforce change control discipline across all projects, ensuring scope changes are formally assessed and approved.
- Lead change impact assessments, clearly articulating impacts to cost, schedule, risk, resourcing and commercials working with sales to convert to contractual variations.
- Plan and manage cross-functional project resources effectively ensuring alignment to critical path project milestones.
- Forecast resource demand and capacity requirements, identifying constraints and escalating risks early.
- Enable delivery teams through clear direction, prioritisation and decision making while fostering accountability and collaboration
- Act as the primary escalation point for delivery issues, ensuring timely decision making and resolution.
- Maintain excellent project information hygiene within PPM tool and associated project systems
Financial & Commercial Management - Take full ownership of project financial performance, including budget baselining, forecasting, earned value tracking, and margin protection.
- Actively monitor actuals against forecast and baseline, identifying variances early and implementing corrective actions.
- Develop and execute back to green recovery plans for projects at risk, covering cost, schedule, scope and resourcing impacts.
- Ensure all billable effort is accurately captured and aligned to client agreements and billing milestones
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication - Manage senior client stakeholders with confidence, setting expectations clearly and communicating impacts, trade-offs and decisions transparently.
- Lead project working group, client status meetings and sponsor level steering forums.
- Produce timely and concise, insight led project reporting that focuses on outcomes, risks, financial position and forward-looking forecasts.
- Navigate complex stakeholder environments, resolving conflict and aligning diverse priorities to project outcomes.
- On occasion, provide Project Management as a Service (PMaaS) within customer environments.
PreSales Support and Initiation - Partner with Practice leaders during presales, supporting proposal reviews, delivery approach validation, risk identification and project management estimation.
- Ensure smooth transition from sales to delivery with clear scope, assumptions, commercials, ensuring upfront client and delivery team alignment and establishing clear delivery baselines.
Capability & Continuous Improvement - Ensure adherence to Brennan’s Project Framework, delivery standards, and information security policies.
- Identify opportunities for delivery improvement and standardisation across delivery practices and actively contribute to maturity uplift initiatives.
- Maintain relevant industry certifications and demonstrate continual professional development.
Key Competencies & Experience Delivery Experience - Minimum 10 years' experience in Project Management and 5+ years at a senior level.
- Experience delivering digital or cloud projects within a Professional Services, IT consulting, or outsourced delivery environment.
- Experience operating within fast paced, high concurrent project volume environments within billable, margin driven delivery models.
Professional Skills and Technology - Proven track record of successful client implementations across relevant technologies:
- Microsoft Azure and AWS Cloud
- Microsoft Dynamics Business Central, Project Operations CRM
- IT infrastructure systems including identify, networking, data platforms, business reporting and security
- Relevant Project Management and Agile certifications (e.g. PMP, PRINCE2, Agile PM, SAFe)
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Project and PPM tools. MS Project Operations preferred.
