Position: Dairy Farm Assistant
Location: Waikato
Type: Full-time / Permanent
Pay Range: $26 - $28 per hour (depending on experience)
Days: Rostered (includes early starts, weekends, and public holidays as required)
Hours: Guaranteed minimum of 30 hours per week, standard 50 hours

The Role
We are seeking a motivated and reliable Dairy Farm Assistant to support day-to-day dairy farm operations. This role involves assisting with milking, livestock care, feeding, hygiene, and general farm duties to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant farm operations.
Key Responsibilities
As a Dairy Farm Assistant, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Assist with daily milking routines, including plant setup, cleaning, and dairy hygiene
- Monitor animal health and welfare, including calving support and stock handling
- Assist with feeding, pasture rotation, and reporting on animal and pasture condition
- Maintain farm hygiene, sheds, yards, and equipment, including basic maintenance
- Work collaboratively with the farm team and contribute to continuous improvement
Requirements To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Completed compulsory secondary education or obtained a certificate at/above NZQF Level 1 (or equivalent)
- NZ class 1 drivers’ licence (or ability to convert international licence) required
- Knowledge of milking systems and dairy hygiene standards
- Understanding of animal welfare and on-farm health and safety requirements
- Physically fit and capable of farm work in all weather conditions
- Reliable, hard-working, and able to work independently and within a team
- Good mathematical and communication skills and a positive attitude
- Willingness to work rostered hours, including weekends and public holidays
- Ability to complete a pre-employment drug & alcohol test on request
- Ability to provide an up-to-date criminal record check on request
