The Company:

A well-established and respected specialist in commercial kitchen and laundry equipment servicing. Based in Palmerston North, we support a diverse client base across the Manawatū-Whanganui and upper Wellington regions. Our team includes electricians, gasfitters, plumbers, and refrigeration technicians who work collaboratively to deliver quality service.

The Role:
  
As an Estimator, you will:

• Prepare accurate cost estimates, tenders, and proposals across electrical, plumbing,gas, and refrigeration projects.
• Prepare numerous small repair estimates following preventative maintenanceactivities.
• Liaise with clients, suppliers, and our operations team to deliver competitive andwell-structured bids.4Conduct site visits, review project documentation, and identify risks or opportunitiesfor cost savings.
• Support project handovers to ensure smooth delivery of awarded jobs.
• Maintain records of estimates, supplier pricing, and tender submissions.

This is a critical role where your analytical skills and trade knowledge will directlycontribute to the success and profitability of the business.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent industry qualification).
• 5+ years’ proven experience in preparing accurate cost estimates within a manufacturing or industrial environment, with exposure to electrical, plumbing, gas, and refrigeration projects.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and project documentation to produce detailed and reliable estimates.
• Excellent knowledge of materials, labour, and subcontracting costs, as well as current industry rates.
• A sound understanding of compliance, safety standards, and regulatory requirements relevant to mechanical and electrical services.
• Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills, with high attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with engineers, contractors, suppliers, and clients.
• A proactive approach, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Proven ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
