Product Development Engineer Design Tomorrow’s Solutions, Today | $120–150k | Warkworth
We’re hiring a technically skilled and detail-focused Product Development Engineer to lead the design, testing, and certification of innovative glass and railing systems — with a strong focus on BIM (Building Information Modelling) content and architectural specification tools.
This newly created, full-time position is based in Warkworth and aligned with a long-term growth strategy. You’ll take ownership of product development from concept to certification and support the creation of a secure BIM portal used by architects and designers across New Zealand.

About the role: You’ll lead the design and development of specialist hardware systems, ensuring they meet compliance standards and support project specification. This includes managing 2D and 3D BIM content, developing testing protocols, and collaborating with internal teams and external specifiers.
You’ll also work cross-functionally with design, production, and sales teams to align your engineering outputs with real-world requirements and deliver a seamless experience to end users.
A typical week might include: - Designing and refining hardware products for specification into architectural and structural projects
- Creating and managing CAD/BIM libraries for architects and engineers
- Leading structural testing and finite element analysis (FEA)
- Collaborating with architects, suppliers, and internal teams on new product initiatives
- Supporting the development of a secure BIM login portal
What you’ll bring: - CPEng (Chartered Professional Engineer) registration is required
- Strong proficiency in AutoDesk Revit and Inventor
- Experience using FEA tools (e.g. Inventor Nastran) and developing products to meet AS/NZS, ISO, or ASTM standards
- Design and commissioning of in-house test rigs or equipment for product validation
- Demonstrated experience designing products to meet compliance standards
- Background in manufacturing or product-based engineering environments
- Proven experience working in architectural, window, or façade sectors is required
- Confident communicator able to engage with architects, designers, or technical clients
- A proactive, hands-on approach to problem solving and product innovation
