The Role We’re looking for a technically skilled and detail-focused Product Development Engineer to lead the design, testing, and certification of specialist glass and railing hardware systems. A core part of the role is the creation and management of 2D and 3D BIM assets that support architects and designers in specifying products into projects. You’ll also help develop a secure BIM portal, ensuring a seamless experience for external users. From structural testing and FEA to compliance documentation and cross-team collaboration, you’ll play a key role in delivering innovative, spec-ready solutions to market.

Key Responsibilities Product and BIM Development
Design and refine railing hardware products for specification into architectural and structural projects
Create and manage 2D and 3D CAD and BIM libraries for architects and designers
Collaborate on the development of a secure BIM login portal and maintain its ongoing content and functionality
Product Testing and Certification
Lead structural load testing and FEA analysis, working closely with the compliance team
Ensure all testing processes and outputs align with AS/NZS, ISO, and ASTM standards
Help develop and document robust testing protocols and certification systems
Documentation and Digital Tools
Prepare detailed technical reports, certification documentation, and digital product records
Ensure BIM models and product documents are technically accurate, user-friendly, and aligned with specifier needs
Maintain up-to-date BIM content that meets current design and construction standards
Collaboration and Technical Support
Work with brand, design, production, and sales teams to align engineering outcomes with business goals
Provide technical input during product development, prototyping, and testing phases
Offer clear, practical engineering advice to internal and external stakeholders
What You’ll Bring
Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) or working towards membership is highly desirable
Proficiency with AutoDesk Revit and Inventor for BIM and product development
Experience in structural testing and finite element analysis (preferably using Inventor Nastran)
Familiarity with compliance standards such as AS/NZS, ISO, and ASTM
Knowledge of in-house certification processes and materials engineering is desirable
Strong documentation and technical writing skills, including certification reporting
A proactive, detail-oriented approach to engineering problem solving
Experience collaborating with architects, designers, or specifiers is a plus
