Days: 5 days per week – Monday to Friday.
Hours: Guaranteed at least 30 hours, standard 40 hours per week

Our client is a well-established and respected workshop that offers top-quality vehicle servicing and repairs. Our goal is to deliver exceptional customer service and ensure every vehicle we work on is in optimal condition. We are now looking for an experienced and reliable Automotive Technician to join our team and contribute to our continued success.
  
Key Responsibilities:
  

• Ability to understand written instructions - follow specification sheets and correctly follow custom requirements as required.
• Prepare Headboards for upholstery by ensuring a smooth and solid foundation for the upholstery process. (If a repair- remove existing fabrics, padding, or upholstery materials. Inspect the Headboard for any damages, repair or replace the fabric and/or detailing).
• Apply padding, foam, or batting to the board to provide a comfortable and cushioned surface. Stretch and attach fabric tightly over the headboard, using staple guns, glue, or other appropriate methods. Ensure even tension, smooth appearance, and secure attachment of the fabric, paying attention to corners, edges, and details.
• Trim excess fabric or threads and neatly finish edges to achieve a clean and professional look. Add decorative elements or trims if required, such as studs according to customer preferences or design specifications.
• Collaborate with other team members, such as upholsterers or fabricators, to ensure smooth workflow and successful project completion. Communicate effectively with supervisors, to understand requirements, provide updates, and address any concerns.
• Inspect finished upholstered headboards to ensure they meet quality standards, including proper alignment of seams, fabric pattern, stitching, and overall appearance. Make any necessary adjustments or repairs to maintain consistency and excellence in craftsmanship.
• Gather all the necessary packaging materials, including cardboard and plastic bags, and any other protective elements required to ensure safe transportation. Ensure that the packaging materials are of suitable quality and size to adequately protect the headboard during transit.
• Assemble the packaging materials in a way that provides secure and protective encasing for the headboard. This involves wrapping it, following correct company standards, following proper packaging techniques to prevent movement or damage during transit.
• Clearly label the packaged headboard with the works order label, securely to the package.
• Clean and maintain upholstery tools, and other equipment used in the upholstery process. Report any malfunctions or the need for replacement to the appropriate personnel.

  
To be successful in this role, you will have:
  

• Have at least two years of relevant experience.
• Be physically fit, able to work standing for long periods, and capable of lifting 25kgs.
• Strong hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
• Flexible and adaptable Ability to work independently, collaboratively and efficiently to understand project requirements and ensure customer satisfaction.
• Attention to detail and ability to maintain high craftsmanship standards.
• Have access to reliable transport for commuting as no public transportation is available.
• Be able to pass a pre-employment medical assessment, drug, and alcohol test.
• Have a clean criminal record with no charges pending.
