What you’ll love doing in this role: 

• Actively seeking and securing new business.
• Retention management of existing clients.
• Enhance and streamline the ecology team’s processes in line with our Quality Management System (QMS).  
• Manage the teams project workflow from estimates, ecological assessments through to tenders and preparation of high-quality reports. 
• Engage with clients and stakeholders to drive new business opportunities and influence strategic growth. 
• Building strong relationships with key stakeholders in Local Government, Iwi and the Community. 
• Work alongside a supportive and approachable General Manager, with opportunities to grow and shape the future of the organisation while contributing to its strategic vision. 

What you’ll bring to the role: 

• Proven leadership experience and a passion for mentoring your team. 
• Strong technical expertise in ecological assessments and report writing, with a keen eye for detail. 
• In-depth knowledge of environmental legislation and its application within New Zealand’s ecology sector. 
• Knowledge and experience of health and safety issues and risk assessments. 
• A minimum of a relevant Bachelor’s degree. 
• 5-10 years experience as an ecologist or similar with field work experience. 
• Proficient Microsoft Suite of tools including SharePoint and OneDrive. 
• Field experience with terrestrial species such as bat, lizard, kauri snail an advantage.
