ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a unique opportunity for a Senior Associate specialising in trade marks to join a highly regarded IP and dispute resolution team. The role is predominantly advisory and prosecution-focused, with exposure to contentious matters, portfolio management and strategic brand protection for prominent domestic and international clients.
 
You will take ownership of matters, work closely with senior practitioners, and play a key role in shaping client strategy across a wide range of industries.
 
You will:

• Develop trade mark search strategies and provide clearance advice
• Manage trade mark prosecution before IP Australia and IPONZ
• Handle contentious matters including oppositions, non-use actions and enforcement
• Draft letters of demand and represent clients in hearings and appeals
• Prepare and negotiate licences, assignments and coexistence agreements
• Conduct IP-focused due diligence for transactions and disputes
• Collaborate with colleagues across dispute resolution and commercial teams
• Contribute to client development and practice growth initiatives

 
ABOUT YOU

You will have:

• Senior Associate-level experience in trade mark law
• Strong technical expertise in trade mark prosecution and disputes
• Working knowledge of practice before IP Australia and IPONZ
• Excellent analytical, drafting and communication skills
• A practical and commercially focused approach to client advice
• Strong client relationship management skills
• A collaborative mindset with interest in business development and industry engagement
• Proven ability to manage matters proactively and prioritise competing deadlines
