Our client SAGE Community Services is seeking an experienced and collaborative Operations Manager to lead multiple community programs and support high-quality, client-centred service delivery across Western Sydney.
About the Opportunity… This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced community services leader to join SAGE Community Services in a pivotal senior leadership role. Reporting directly to the Executive Officer, the Operations Manager will provide operational leadership across multiple DCJ-funded family support and domestic and family violence programs.
The role oversees service delivery, workforce leadership, quality improvement, compliance, and stakeholder engagement across a complex multi-program environment. You’ll also contribute to organisational growth, sustainability, and the delivery of one-off funded projects as they arise.

- 28 hours per week (days negotiable)
- SCHADS Award Level 7 (dependant on experience)
- Based in Pendle Hill, however travel may be required
About the organisation… SAGE is a community-based family support service for families in the Parramatta and Cumberland local government areas. The Department of Community Services has funded the organisation since 1978.
SAGE provides an efficient, preventative service to families who seek support to improve their well-being. They address issues such as child development and behaviour, parenting strategies, strengthening parent / child relationships, social isolation and family violence. The centre provides a variety of services for families, including information, referral, community development, counselling, support services, home visits and group work.

What you’ll need to succeed… This role will suit an experienced and collaborative community services leader with strong operational, people management and problem-solving skills, ideally within complex DCJ-funded family support or domestic and family violence programs. The successful candidate will bring a genuine commitment to trauma-informed, culturally safe and inclusive practice, along with a passion for supporting children, families and communities across Western Sydney.
Selection Criteria… - Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field (e.g. social work, community development, public policy or management), or equivalent significant professional experience in a similar leadership role within the community services sector.
- Demonstrated senior leadership experience (minimum 3 years) within a not-for-profit, community services or human services environment, including direct oversight and management of multiple teams across DCJ-funded or similarly regulated programs.
- Proven ability to lead, communicate, engage, supervise and develop teams across multiple programs or service areas, including direct management of Team Leaders, with a commitment to building a values-driven, collaborative and high-performing workforce.
- Demonstrated excellence in communication – both written and verbal – including the ability to engage clearly and effectively with diverse stakeholders, prepare high-quality reports, represent the organisation in professional settings.
- Sound understanding of quality assurance, compliance and contract management requirements in a government-funded community services environment, including service specifications, data collection, reporting and audit obligations.
- Demonstrated experience in operational risk identification, assessment and management, including critical incident management, WHS obligations within program areas.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex operational challenges, develop practical solutions, and implement improvements that enhance service quality and performance.
- High-level stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to engage effectively with government agencies, funders and community partners, and to represent the organisation professionally in all contexts.
- Financial literacy and demonstrated experience managing and reporting on operational budgets across multiple funded programs, ensuring expenditure remains within approved parameters.
- Demonstrated commitment to child-safe practice, cultural safety, trauma-informed and strengths-based service delivery, and First Nations perspectives, particularly within DFSV and family support contexts. Demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, inclusive service delivery for people with disabilities and LGBTQIA+ people.
- Personal and professional commitment to SAGE Community Services’ vision, values and practice principles, with the ability to model and champion these in all aspects of leadership, practice and stakeholder engagement. Demonstrates a positive, collegial approach to working with all team members.
- Superior time management and workload organisation skills, with a demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities across multiple programs, meet deadlines and maintain quality under pressure.
- Demonstrated confidence and proficiency in the use of Client Management Systems (CMS) and advanced competency across all Microsoft Office 365 applications, including managing people’s personal information. Experience using CIMS,SRS, InfoShare and Child Story will be highly regarded.
- Current unrestricted Australian driver’s licence
- Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency
