ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY Join the vibrant team at WASH House in a specialist Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence (DFSV) Case Worker role. This is an Identified Role working with Aboriginal and /or Torres Strait Islander women, with or without children, in the Blacktown Local Government Area (LGA).
The DFSV Caseworker role will deliver culturally responsive support and strengthen community ties with First Nations community, emphasising safety and well-being through a culturally sensitive approach.
We are seeking a passionate Aboriginal/ Torres Strait Islander Woman with extensive experience in case management, particularly in supporting women and children facing complex crises. The ideal candidate will excel in ensuring client safety and well-being through culturally appropriate, Trauma informed and client centred practice.
This is a full-time role based in Mount Druitt, Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm or 9:00 am to 4:30 pm.

Essential CRITERIA - This is an Identified Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander Position. Applicants for this position must be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent through parentage, identification as being Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander and being accepted in the community as such. Exemption is claimed under Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.
- Tertiary qualifications (Minimum Diploma level) in Community Work, Community Welfare or other related discipline.
- Experience in case management with Aboriginal and /or Torres Strait Islander women, children and families with complex support needs including outreach and advocacy
- Demonstrated understanding of issues impacting on Aboriginal/ Torres Strait Islander women, children and families
- Knowledge and understanding of domestic and family violence, social policy and issues that face Aboriginal and /or Torres Strait Islander women, children and families in Western Sydney
- Proven ability to support Aboriginal women and children in crisis or at significant risk of harm and understanding of trauma-informed practice
- Proven ability to establish relationships and maintain connections with various stakeholders.
- Demonstrated connections to the Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander community in Western Sydney or ability to develop strong linkages and connections
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Experience in working with multidisciplinary services and agencies and providing individual advocacy for clients.
- Understanding and commitment to feminist principles and values.
- Conceptual skills, with sound analytical and problem-solving ability
- Ability to work effectively within a team including supporting team members through co-case management.
- Computer and internet skills
- Current driver’s licence and own vehicle.
Desirable: - Degree Level Qualifications in Social work or other related discipline.
- Experience in the Domestic and Family Violence sector.
