Our client is seeking an experienced grocery retail professional to join their team as an Assistant Store Manager.
The ideal candidate will have at least 5-6 years of grocery retail experience, including experience as an Assistant Manager in a medium-sized store. You should have strong, hands-on involvement across all areas of store operations, including team management, profit and loss margins, budgeting, stock control, merchandising and achieving sales targets. Previous grocery retail experience is essential. This position is best suited to someone who is passionate about retail and genuinely wants to build a long-term career in retail management.
The store is located in Nenagh, Co. Tipperary, a busy and thriving town just a 35-minute drive from Limerick City

Requirements for Shop Manager Job Co. Tipperary
- Minimum 2 years' experience in retail store management, preferably within a convenience store, food retail, grocery, or similar fast-paced environment.
- Strong stock control and inventory management skills, with experience monitoring stock levels, reducing waste, and maintaining accurate inventory.
- Confident managing daily ordering, including fresh food, chilled, ambient, and other high-turnover products.
- Proven ability to lead, organise, and motivate a small team, creating a positive and productive working environment.
- Comfortable managing up to 5 staff members per shift, including allocating duties, managing breaks, and ensuring adequate staff coverage.
- Strong understanding of customer service, merchandising, food safety, hygiene, and retail standards.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks in a busy store environment.
- Good commercial awareness, with an understanding of sales, costs, margins, waste, and profitability.
Responsibilities of Shop Manager Job Co. Tipperary
- Oversee the day-to-day operation of the store, ensuring the shop runs efficiently, smoothly, and to consistently high standards.
- Work closely with the store owners and management team to drive sales, improve profitability, control costs, and achieve business targets.
- Take responsibility for stock management, including stock rotation, stock checks, ordering, receiving deliveries, and minimising waste and stock loss.
- Lead, organise, and motivate the store team, ensuring staff are well trained, supported, and clear about their responsibilities.
- Maintain high standards of customer service, ensuring customers receive a friendly, professional, and consistent experience.
- Oversee merchandising and store presentation, ensuring shelves, displays, promotional areas, and product availability meet company standards.
- Ensure high standards of food safety, cleanliness, hygiene, and general store presentation are maintained at all times.
- Monitor sales performance and identify opportunities to increase sales, improve margins, and maximise profitability
- Support the store in maintaining and enhancing the company's brand reputation through excellent standards, customer service, and team performance.
