Our client is seeking experienced and professional Butchers to take on a Department Management role, leading and working alongside an established butchery team. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious and motivated individual to join a successful business, take ownership of the department and play a key role in driving its continued growth and success.
The role is highly rewarding but also profit- and results-driven. Therefore, candidates must have previous experience managing or overseeing a butcher department, with a strong understanding of department performance, team management and achieving commercial targets.
 
Location: Near Cork City.
Due to the early morning opening hours, candidates with their own transport are strongly preferred.
 
Package and Salary
 
Competitive Salary: €38,000 - €42,000
Full-time Contract: 42 hours

Key Responsibilities for Retail Butcher Department Jobs Co. Cork

• Prepare and cut various types of meat products, including beef, pork, poultry, and seafood, according to customer preferences and specifications.
• Ensure all meat products are of high quality, properly trimmed, and free from defects.
• Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Assist customers with their meat selections and provide recommendations on cooking methods and recipes.
• Package and label meat products for display and sale
• Maintain knowledge of current market trends and adjust product offerings accordingly.

Requirements for Retail Butcher Department Jobs Co. Cork

• Ideally a minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Butcher in a retail or supermarket setting
• Good knowledge of different cuts of meat and their preparation methods, controlling yield and waste
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks
• Familiarity with food safety and sanitation regulations
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods of time and lift heavy objects
• Must be available to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays but fair rotation of roster is in place
