We are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established supermarket chain operating in Cork. Our client is seeking an experienced and commercially driven Fruit & Vegetable Chargehand to join their retail supermarket team. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate fresh produce professional with a strong background in supermarket sales, supplier engagement and departmental management. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for quality, freshness and presentation, alongside a solid understanding of stock control, customer demand, waste management and profit and loss margins. With a focus on driving sales, maximising profitability and maintaining strong supplier relationships, the successful candidate will play a key role in the day-to-day success of the department, ensuring excellent product availability and outstanding customer service. This store is conveniently located on the commuter belt, approximately 20 minutes from Ballincollig and 30 minutes from Kinsale
Package and Benefits
Salary: €36,000 - €38,000 DOE
42 Hour Contract

Key Responsibilities of Retail Fruit and Veg Team Leader Co. Cork
- Supervise and support the daily activities of the fruit and vegetable department.
- Ensure produce is displayed attractively and replenished throughout the day.
- Monitor product quality and remove damaged or expired stock.
- Receive, check, and organise deliveries.
- Maintain excellent hygiene, food safety, and health and safety standards.
- Assist with stock rotation, inventory control, and waste reduction.
- Train and support new team members.
- Provide excellent customer service and assist with customer queries.
- Work closely with management to ensure department targets are achieved.
Requirements for Retail Fruit and Veg Team Leader Co. Cork
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience in supervising a fruit and vegetable, fresh produce, or retail environment.
- Good organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Physically fit and able to lift and move produce safely.
- Flexible to work weekends and early morning shifts when required.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making. Understanding of food safety, HACCP, and health and safety procedures.
