Blue Forge Recruitment is proud to partner with some of Ireland's leading and most progressive retail and FMCG companies. We are delighted to be supporting one of Ireland's most successful supermarket groups in their search for an experienced Fresh Food Manager to join their busy and well-established Deli Department. This is an excellent opportunity to join their dynamic store located on an accessible commuter belt, with excellent public transport links and convenient access for commuters. The store is approximately a 20-minute drive from Naas, Newbridge and Sallins, as well as 30 mins drive from Blackwood and the surrounding. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of fresh food operations, food safety and hygiene standards, and effective stock and inventory control. You'll take the lead in the Deli Manager's absence, keeping the team motivated and the department running smoothly. This role also requires driving high merchandising standards, ensuring counters are fully stocked, fresh and visually appealing, while delivering an excellent customer experience every day and working with the Deli Manager to upsell and cross sell food. This is a suitable opportunity for someone who is looking to grow their career and is passionate about delivering sales in Fresh Food Department.

Competitive Salary: €35,000 - €37,000 DOE

• Manage the day-to-day operation of the deli and fresh food department
• Ensuring high standards of food quality, presentation and customer service.
• Ensure all food is prepared, displayed and stored in accordance with food safety, hygiene and company standards.
• Maintain excellent product quality, freshness and presentation across all deli counters, displays and prepared foods.
• Ensure all products are correctly labelled with ingredients, allergens, prices, use-by dates and other required information.
• Monitor and maintain food temperatures and complete all required food safety and HACCP records.
• Monitor sales, margins, waste and department performance, taking action where necessary to improve results.
• Provide excellent customer service and deal professionally with customer queries or complaints.
• Work closely with the Store Manager and other department managers to achieve overall store targets.
• Carry out opening and closing procedures and ensure the department is fully prepared for trading.

• Previous experience in a deli, fresh food, food service, catering or retail environment.
• Previous supervisory or management experience is required. 
• Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene and HACCP procedures.
• Good understanding of food preparation, presentation, storage and stock rotation.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a busy, fast-paced environment.
• Good organisational and time-management skills.
• Ability to manage stock, ordering, waste and department costs.
• Ability to work on your own initiative as well as part of a wider management team.
• Food safety/HACCP training or relevant certification is an advantage.
