Retail Butcher Job Northwest Galway
 
Blue Forge Recruitment has partnered with a progressive local supermarket group who operates a number of well-known Supermarkets across Connacht. Our client is looking for a candidate with a background working in a busy retail butcher department, butcher shop or butcher production organisation. The store is located on the northwest of Galway only a 15 minutes' drive from Oughterard and a 20 minutes' drive from Salthill and Galway City and surrounding areas. An ideal candidate will have knowledge of different meats, using the tools properly and inventory control. This job also requires standing for long hours , working with the head Butcher to run the department smoothly, ensuring the department is up to HACCP standards and provide excellent customer service. Key Responsibilities for Retail Butcher Job Northwest Galway

• Prepare and cut various types of meat products, including beef, pork, poultry, and seafood, according to customer preferences and specifications.
• Ensure all meat products are of high quality, properly trimmed, and free from defects.
• Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Assist customers with their meat selections and provide recommendations on cooking methods and recipes.
• Package and label meat products for display and sale
• Maintain knowledge of current market trends and adjust product offerings accordingly

Requirements for Retail Butcher Job Northwest Galway

• Ideally a minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Butcher in a retail or supermarket setting
• Good knowledge of different cuts of meat and their preparation methods, controlling yield and waste
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks
• Familiarity with food safety and sanitation regulations
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods of time and lift heavy objects
• Must be available to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays but fair rotation of roster is in place
