Blue Forge Recruitment has partnered with a progressive local supermarket group who operates a number of well-known Supermarkets across Connacht. Our client is seeking an experienced Butcher to join their busy Butcher Department to help run it smoothly. The supermarket store is located west of Galway town, located in a vibrant affluent seaside village within a driving distance from Moycullen, ClareGlaway and surrounding areas. An ideal candidate will take the responsibility to support the team, work closely with the manager to keep achieve the sales and meat production targets and assist the customers with any questions. This job also requires knowledge of preparing wide range of meat, using butcher equipment safely and keeping the department up to HACCP standards. if you are looking for next opportunity to progress in your career than this job is the right fit for you.

Salary: €35,000 - €40,000
Full-time contract
Staff discount
Standard morning shifts (7am & 8am) till late afternoons

Key Responsibilities for this Butcher Job:

• Prepare and cut various types of meat products, including beef, pork, poultry, and seafood, according to customer preferences and specifications.
• Ensure all meat products are of high quality, properly trimmed, and free from defects.
• Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Assist customers with their meat selections and provide recommendations on cooking methods and recipes.
• Package and label meat products for display and sale
• Maintain knowledge of current market trends and adjust product offerings accordingly

Requirements for this Butcher Job:

• Ideally a minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Butcher in a retail or supermarket setting
• Good knowledge of different cuts of meat and their preparation methods, controlling yield and waste
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks
• Familiarity with food safety and sanitation regulations
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods of time and lift heavy objects
• Must be available to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays but fair rotation of roster is in place
