A well known and progressive local supermarket group flagship supermarket in Co. Meath, is seeking someone ambitious and passionate about the butcher's standards, thrives in a customer facing environment. As a part of management of the Butcher's department, you will be responsible for setting up the counters on a daily basis, overseeing the quality of work from your team, checking quality of the meat products, overseeing hygiene, whilst maintaining food safety. The store is situated in Co. Meath. Approximately 30 mins drive from Mullingar and Maynooth. Given the nature of the early shifts required for this position, candidates with cars are preferred. Due to the scope of this position our client provides flexible working shift patterns, mostly morning to afternoon work, with occasional evenings to facilitate the trading hours of the store.  Key Responsibilities for this Head Butcher Job:

• Prepare and cut various types of meat products, including beef, pork, poultry, and seafood, according to customer preferences and specifications
• Ensure all equipment is maintained in good shape, repaired and must be handled with care.
• Manage stock levels to control wastage
• Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines to maintain a clean and safe work environment
• Assist customers with their meat selections and provide recommendations on cooking methods and recipes
• Package and label meat products for display and sale
• Maintain knowledge of current market trends and adjust product offerings accordingly
• Crew training and supervising tasks
• Develop and implement strategies to increase sales and profitability  

• Minimum 3 years of experience is required in the Butcher's department but we are open to candidates joining from a warehouse background as well.
• Strong knowledge of different cuts of meat and their preparation methods
• Must possess a keen understanding of cost control, inventory management and department merchandising
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks
• Familiarity with food safety and sanitation regulations
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods of time and lift heavy objects
• Must be available to work flexible hours, including weekends and holiday
• Willingness to continuously learn and grow to adapt to new techniques and machines.
