Chief Operating & Financial Officer (COFO)

�� Sydney-based | $180K base + super + performance bonus

My client is a high-growth, no-BS performance agency partnering with powerhouse brands like DoorDash, Geedup, Love To Dream, and Swyftx — and they’re looking for a rare breed: a commercially sharp finance and operations leader who’s navigated the fast-paced world of agency life and can turn creative energy into commercial success.

As their COFO, you will take full ownership of the financial, legal, people, and operational pillars that drive this agency forward. You’ll work directly with the Founder and Board to shape strategy and make mission-critical decisions — all with the autonomy and authority to drive real impact.

Your Core Responsibilities

Financial Leadership

• Own end-to-end financial operations: forecasting, budgeting, P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow
• Maintain Xero at an audit-ready level with precision and timeliness
• Oversee tax prep and compliance in partnership with external accountants
• Drive revenue growth and identify cost-saving efficiencies to improve margins
• Analyse profitability across clients, service lines, and departments to inform strategy

⚙️ Operational & Strategic Leadership

• Develop and optimise SOPs across all teams to reduce key-person risk and scale efficiently
• Run and report weekly, monthly, and quarterly performance metrics to the board
• Design and execute long-term growth strategies alongside the leadership team

�� People & Culture

• Manage payroll, HR compliance, performance reviews, and people processes
• Serve as the escalation point for team and client issues
• Lead the agency’s senior team (Growth, Creative Strategy, Performance, Creative Director)

⚖️ Legal & Risk Management

• Review all client and contractor agreements
• Resolve disputes, legal escalations, and risk mitigation matters
• Maintain compliance with all legal and regulatory obligations with support from legal and accounting partners

✅ Your Experience & Skills

• 5+ years in a senior finance/operations role within a digital marketing, creative, or performance agency
• Recent experience as a COO, CFO, or equivalent in a fast-growth environment
• Advanced Xero expertise with CPA/CA qualification
• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business
• Sydney-based, with capacity to attend regular in-person meetings
