Tobacco Regulatory Control Officers – Multiple Opportunities
12-Month Contract Opportunities | Sydney Based + Statewide Travel
$55–$65 per hour + Super
An exciting opportunity is available for multiple Tobacco Regulatory Control Officers to join a high-profile public health compliance program focused on combatting the sale of illicit tobacco and illegal vaping products across NSW.

Opportunities Available
We are recruiting for approximately 9–10 positions, including:
- Regulatory Control Officers – Sydney based
- Mobile/Flying Squad Regulatory Officers – statewide travel required
- Senior Team Leader (Flying Squad) – leadership and field supervision responsibilities
About the Role Working as part of a highly collaborative compliance team, you will participate in covert and overt inspections of retail premises suspected of selling illegal tobacco or vaping products.
Duties may include:
- Conducting undercover compliance purchases
- Participating in inspections and enforcement operations
- Seizing illicit products and handling evidence
- Preparing statements, reports, penalty notices and briefs of evidence
- Supporting investigations and potential prosecution matters
- Maintaining accurate records and contemporaneous notes
- Working closely with internal stakeholders and law enforcement where required
The environment is highly dynamic and reactive, requiring flexibility and the ability to adapt quickly to changing operational priorities.
Location & Travel Sydney-Based Officers - Based from St Leonards
- Daily field work across metropolitan Sydney and surrounding regions
- Standard business hours with occasional adjusted start/finish times depending on operational needs
Flying Squad Team - Reactive statewide deployment team
- Regular regional travel across NSW, including overnight stays
- Flights, accommodation and travel arrangements provided
- Ideal for candidates who enjoy operational field work and travel
About You To be successful, you will ideally bring:
- Previous experience in compliance, investigations, regulatory enforcement or similar field-based roles
- Strong attention to detail and evidence handling capability
- Experience dealing with members of the public in sensitive or high-pressure situations
- Ability to write clear reports, statements and documentation
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Flexibility and resilience in a rapidly changing environment
- Sound judgement and professionalism

- Government compliance or investigations
- Local council regulatory services
- Law enforcement or protective services
- Fair Trading or licensing environments
- Workplace investigations
- Regulatory or enforcement agencies
Systems & Training Comprehensive training will be provided, including:
- Legislative powers and authorities
- Inspection procedures
- Risk assessment and operational safety
- Evidence handling and reporting systems
Strong computer literacy and confidence using systems for reporting and record management are essential.

Requirements - Current Police Check (or willingness to obtain)
- Current Driver License
- Ability to travel across NSW where required
