Business Resilience Specialist (Contract) - multiple positions

This is an opportunity to play a key role in strengthening organisational resilience—ensuring continuity of essential services during disruptions, emergencies, and crises.

The Opportunity We are seeking an experienced Business Resilience Specialist to support the implementation of an enterprise-wide resilience framework.

In this role, you will work across the organisation to ensure Sydney Water is prepared to prevent, respond to, and recover from disruptions, while maintaining service delivery to customers and the community.

Key Details

• Start Date: ASAP (pending checks)
• Duration: 6 months (backfill contract)
• Location: Parramatta (with occasional travel to other sites)
• Work Arrangement: Hybrid – 3 days onsite / 2 days WFH
• Hours: 8 hours/day, 40 hours/week
• Rate: $700 per day + super
• Positions Available: 2

What You’ll Be Doing

• Coordinate and support implementation of the enterprise business resilience framework
• Conduct business impact assessments, risk and threat analysis
• Develop and maintain business continuity and emergency response plans
• Deliver training, awareness programs, and simulation exercises
• Provide expert advice on emergency, crisis, and incident management
• Identify risks, gaps, and improvement opportunities across resilience processes
• Collaborate with internal teams and external agencies (e.g. emergency services)
• Support testing, assurance, and continuous improvement of resilience capabilities
• Contribute to reporting for senior leadership, audit, and risk committees
• Assist in maintaining recovery sites, emergency systems, and response readiness

About You You’re a proactive and analytical professional with strong experience in resilience, risk, or emergency management within complex organisations.

You will bring:

• 5–7 years’ experience in business continuity, emergency management, or resilience roles
• Experience working in large, complex or critical infrastructure environments
• Strong knowledge of business continuity frameworks and risk management practices
• Experience supporting incidents, crises, or emergency responses
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
• Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capability

Highly Regarded

• Knowledge of ISO 22301 / ISO 22313 (Business Continuity)
• Familiarity with ISO 27001 (Information Security / DR)
• Experience delivering training, exercises, or resilience programs
• Background in utilities, government, or essential services

Requirements

• Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience
• 2 x reference checks
• National Police Check
