Senior HR Business Partner (Contract) – 2 Roles Available

This is a hands-on Senior HR Business Partner opportunity supporting a complex Engineering & Maintenance function. You’ll partner with leaders across a unionised, blue-collar environment—managing workforce challenges, resolving issues, and supporting critical operations.

Contract Details

• 2 x positions available
• Start: ASAP (immediate availability highly preferred)
• Duration: 6-month contract (potential for extension)
• Pay Rate: $850 – $950 per day + super
  (Candidates will be considered across multiple pay points within this range)
• Hours: Up to 8 hours per day / 40 hours per week (no overtime)

About the Role Reporting to a Senior Manager within a high-performing Business Partnering team, you will:

• Provide end-to-end HR case management across performance, conduct, and grievances
• Partner closely with leaders across maintenance depots and operational sites
• Navigate industrial relations matters within a unionised workforce
• Manage complex cases including investigations, fitness for duty, and psychosocial risks
• Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and governance frameworks
• Build strong stakeholder relationships while confidently influencing and challenging leaders

This is a highly visible role, requiring regular time on-site engaging with frontline teams.

What You’ll Bring

• Strong experience in HR Business Partnering / Senior HR Advisory roles
• Proven capability in high-volume case management
• Background in blue-collar, industrial or unionised environments (highly desirable)
• Ability to manage complex, fast-paced workloads
• Confidence navigating conflict and sensitive workforce matters
• A resilient, level-headed approach with strong stakeholder management skills
• Solid understanding of employment legislation and HR frameworks

Experience in industries such as transport, mining, energy, manufacturing, or heavy industry will be highly regarded.
Working Environment

• Hybrid working model – approx. 2 days on-site in operational environments
• Based out of Burwood office, with regular site engagement required
• Fortnightly team collaboration sessions in the CBD
• Supportive, experienced team with strong leadership
