Senior Finance Business Partner – Capital Projects (NSW Government)
Contract: 12 months + strong extension potential
Rate: $70.89 – $78.11/hour + Super
Location: Barangaroo, Sydney
Hybrid Working: 3 days office/site | 2 days WFH (flexible)
A NSW Government agency is seeking an experienced Senior Finance Business Partner to support the delivery of major capital infrastructure and precinct redevelopment projects across Sydney.
This is a true finance partnering role, working closely with senior project directors and operational leaders to provide commercial insight, forecasting, budgeting and decision support across complex construction and property programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner with project and executive teams to deliver strategic and operational financial advice
- Lead budgeting, forecasting and month-end processes across major capital works programs
- Provide detailed cost analysis including actual vs forecast reporting and variance commentary
- Support project teams with SAP project structures (WBS maintenance) and financial queries
- Translate complex financial information into clear business insights for non-finance stakeholders
- Ensure strong financial governance, controls and reporting across infrastructure projects
- Build effective working relationships across NSW Government and external partners
Projects & Environment:The role supports a portfolio of high-profile construction and precinct programs including large redevelopment and infrastructure delivery initiatives.
About You You are a confident finance business partner with strong capital project experience and the ability to operate autonomously in a fast-paced environment.
You will bring:
- Strong management accounting, budgeting and forecasting expertise
- Experience supporting large capital works / construction programs
- Advanced Excel skills and high proficiency in SAP and BI tools (Power BI preferred)
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Ability to provide commercial insight and challenge assumptions constructively
- CA / CPA / CIMA qualification (essential)
Role 2
Finance Manager – Financial Control & SAP Transformation (NSW Government) Contract: Initially through November (high likelihood of extension)
Rate: Rate: $750 pr day + super
Location: Sydney CBD / Hybrid
A NSW Government agency is seeking a senior
Finance Manager / Senior Financial Accountant to play a key role in a major finance transformation program.
This position sits within the Financial Accounting & Control function and will support the agency through a significant systems transition, including an upgrade to
SAP S/4HANA and the implementation of new financial statements automation technology.
This is a hands-on, senior-level role requiring strong technical accounting capability, financial statement expertise, and confidence operating independently from day one.
Key Responsibilities: - Lead the preparation of end-to-end statutory financial statements
- Support the finance team through SAP S/4HANA transition, testing and implementation
- Assist with the rollout and adoption of financial statements automation systems
- Provide technical accounting advice on complex journals, reconciliations and reporting issues
- Support balance sheet integrity, month-end close and year-end processes
- Liaise with external vendors, project teams and audit stakeholders as required
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across financial control processes
About You:This role will suit a highly capable finance professional with strong financial control and transformation experience.
You will bring:
- CA / CPA qualification (mandatory)
- 8+ years accounting experience, including 5+ years post-qualification
- Strong background in financial statement preparation and technical accounting
- Audit experience (Big Four highly regarded)
- Exposure to Tier 1 ERP systems (SAP or Oracle essential)
- Experience with SAP upgrades and finance automation tools (TM1 desirable)
- Ability to operate autonomously and provide leadership through change
