Electrical / Senior Engineer – FIFO (Commissioning) SKA-Low Project | South Murchison, WA
$700–$800 per day | 2:1 Roster | Immediate Start
Ventia is seeking an experienced Electrical / Senior Engineer to support the commissioning phase of the internationally significant SKA-Low Project, part of the Square Kilometre Array – the world’s largest radio telescope, located in remote Western Australia.
This is a unique opportunity to work on a once-in-a-generation infrastructure project alongside global technical teams and leading Australian organisations, including CSIRO.
About the Role Reporting to the Commissioning Manager, you will oversee the commissioning of the power plant and high-voltage (11kV) network that supplies power to the telescope infrastructure. The project is in its final stages, with commissioning underway and completion expected by end of May 2026.
This is a hands-on FIFO role, ideal for someone who enjoys working on site, supporting multiple teams, and contributing to successful project close-out.
Key Details
- Location: South Murchison, WA (approx. 400km from Geraldton)
- Roster: 2 weeks on / 1 week off
- Hours: 6am–6pm (12-hour days)
- Contract: ASAP start to 30 May 2026
- Pay Rate: $700–$800 per day (max)
- Accommodation & Meals: Provided (24/7 camp)
- LAHA: $150 per night
- Flights: FIFO from Geraldton or Jandakot (paid by Client)
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate commissioning of a diesel power plant (1–5MW) and HV network
- Produce, review, and update commissioning documentation
- Organise and participate in safety workshops
- Prepare weekly progress and commissioning reports
- Provide technical support to construction, quality, and site teams
- Assist across site activities as required during final project stages
About You You will bring a proactive, team-focused mindset and be comfortable working in a remote FIFO environment.
Essential Requirements - Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering
- 3–5+ years’ general electrical engineering experience
- Proven commissioning experience with diesel generators (1–5MW)
- Hands-on experience with 11kV HV networks
- Strong computer skills, particularly Microsoft Excel
- White Card
- Ability to work safely in a high-compliance site environment
Highly Regarded - Previous FIFO experience
- Commissioning experience across infrastructure or energy projects
- Strong interpersonal skills and willingness to support multiple teams
Additional Requirements
- General medical including D&A (required prior to commencement)
- Daily breath testing and random onsite D&A testing
- Cultural Heritage induction (online)
- PPE supplied by Ventia (own boots required initially)
