Indigeco is supporting a major federal government department to recruit experienced APS5 or APS6 Personnel Security Vetting Officers to join their Security Clearances and Maintenance team. This role is responsible for undertaking personnel security vetting activities up to the NV2 level, supporting the delivery of secure and compliant government operations.
This opportunity is well-suited to candidates with existing vetting experience who are comfortable working in a high-tempo, regulated environment and providing sound, defensible advice on clearance outcomes.
This role is offered on an initial 12-month contract, with the potential for a further 12-month extension.
Only Australian Citizens who hold an active NV1 security clearance or higher are eligible to apply for this role.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Working under the supervision of the Assistant Director Vetting, you will undertake security clearance vetting and related assurance activities in accordance with the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) and departmental standard operating procedures.
The role involves complex assessment work, quality assurance activities, and the provision of clear, well-reasoned advice to support key business outcomes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Undertake personnel security vetting up to the NV2 level in accordance with the PSPF and departmental procedures
- Utilise case management systems and other departmental systems to manage vetting cases
- Assess and manage complex vetting matters and prepare high-quality assessment documentation
- Provide sound, defensible advice regarding clearance outcomes and respond constructively to feedback
- Manage a Quality Assurance (QA) caseload, including working with established service providers, in line with PSPF and internal QA standards
- Work to tight deadlines while managing shifting priorities in a high-volume environment
- Undertake additional administrative and security-related tasks, including inbox management and assessment of change of circumstance forms
- Work from an office-based location and contribute to team-based outcomes
KEY REQUIREMENTS - A Certificate IV in Government (Personnel Security Vetting) (mandatory)
- A minimum NV1 security clearance, with the ability to undertake work up to NV2 level (mandatory)
- Demonstrated experience conducting personnel security vetting in line with the PSPF
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear and accurate assessment documentation
- Sound judgement and the ability to provide well-reasoned advice on sensitive matters
- The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to liaise professionally with a broad range of stakeholders
- The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, with minimal supervision
