Indigeco is supporting a major federal government department in sourcing an APS3 Service Support Officer in Stafford, QLD. This role sits within a nationally recognised government mental health service that provides high-quality counselling, wellbeing, and support services to Australian veterans and their families.
This position is offered on an initial 12-month contract, with the potential for a further 12-month extension, and offers an hourly rate of $47.00 – $50.49 plus super, depending on experience.
The service is focused on delivering client-centred care through a combination of established clinical practices and emerging evidence-based approaches. Employees are supported through ongoing learning and development opportunities.

ABOUT THE ROLE
As an APS3 Service Support Officer, you will operate within a multidisciplinary team, providing frontline customer service and clinical administrative support to the delivery of mental health and wellbeing services. The role supports individuals who have served at least one day of continuous full-time service in the Australian Defence Force (ADF), as well as their immediate families.
You will be the first point of contact for clients accessing services, playing a key role in ensuring professional, compassionate, and efficient service delivery.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
In this role, you will:
- Provide high-quality customer service as the first point of contact for clients, visitors and stakeholders, in person, via phone, email, and SMS
- Provide administrative support to operational tasks as directed by the Regional Practice Manager
- Resolve client enquiries, provide accurate information in line with policies and procedures, and refer matters to appropriate service delivery teams
- Provide frontline administrative support for in-centre appointments, including appointment management via the Client Management System
- Support the coordination of regional events, including group treatment programs, internal meetings, and community-based activities
- Provide administrative support across all service delivery streams, including data entry, record keeping, and workflow management
- Prepare and distribute internal and external correspondence relating to client allocations, referrals, appointment,s and service satisfaction
- Provide administrative support to external referral platforms, including contracted health providers and stakeholders
- Support daily regional operations, including correspondence management, deliveries, travel arrangements, invoice processing, resource requests, and property or maintenance matters
- Assist the Practice Manager or Assistant Practice Manager with quality assurance and operational reporting
- Support workplace practices aligned with WHS, workplace diversity, APS Values and Employment Principles, and the APS Code of Conduct
- Support the vision, mission, and business objectives of the service
KEY REQUIREMENTS To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Demonstrated professional experience supporting business operations and service delivery within a health service and/or government environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, assessed against APS Work Level Standards (WLS)
- Proven experience delivering high-quality, front-line customer service in a professional and sensitive environment
- The ability to communicate empathetically and effectively with a diverse client group
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
- High attention to detail, with accurate data entry, record keeping, and administrative capability
- The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Sound judgement and the ability to follow policies, procedures, confidentiality and privacy requirements
- Intermediate computer skills, including experience using client management systems and Microsoft Office applications
- A current Working with Vulnerable People registration, or the ability to obtain one prior to commencement OR
- A current Working with Children Check, or the ability to obtain one prior to commencement
