The role - Senior Google Cloud Engineer 
Duration - 12 Month renewable contract 
Location - Hybrid / CBD 
 
We are looking for a Senior Google Cloud Platform Engineer to join the engineering team of this enterprise and take ownership of designing, building and operating cloud infrastructure at scale. 
 
The role: 

• Define and enforce cloud architecture standards, patterns, and guardrails across engineering teams. 
• Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform to automate provisioning and configuration. 
• Build and optimise CI/CD pipelines to accelerate delivery and maintain platform reliability. 
• Lead the implementation of GCP services including GKE, Cloud Run, Cloud SQL, BigQuery, Pub/Sub, and VPC networking. 
• Embed security best practices across the platform — including IAM, secrets management, and compliance controls. 
• Monitor platform health and performance using Cloud Monitoring, Logging, and observability tooling. 
• Establish and maintain disaster recovery, backup, and business continuity processes. 
• Partner with security and compliance teams to meet regulatory and data governance requirements. 

Requirements: 

• 10+ years in cloud/platform engineering with 5+ years hands-on GCP experience 
• Strong Terraform and IaC expertise 
• Deep knowledge of GKE, Cloud Run, and containerisation (Docker) 
• Experience designing VPC networks, IAM, and security controls on GCP 
• Proficiency in CI/CD tooling (Cloud Build, GitHub Actions, or similar) 
• Scripting skills in Python, Bash, or Go 
• Strong understanding of SRE principles — SLOs, alerting, incident response 
• Google Cloud Professional certification (Cloud Architect or DevOps Engineer) 
• Familiarity with service mesh (Istio, Anthos) 
• Platform engineering with Internal Developer Platforms (IDPs) 
• Experience in regulated industries (finance, healthcare)
