Head of Risk & Compliance – FinTech Startup Sydney | 12 Month MTC 4 days in Office - N.Sydney 

We’re a high-growth fintech in the consumer lending space, and we’re looking for a hands-on Head of Risk & Compliance to take ownership of our regulatory and compliance framework. This is a unique opportunity to step up in a scaling business where you’ll make a direct impact.

What you’ll be doing

• Own and operate the risk & compliance function as a one-person team.
• Ensure we meet all ACL and ASIC obligations, with a strong focus on RG 209 and the NCCP Act.
• Advise on Privacy Act obligations and manage responses to potential breaches.
• Support AML compliance while keeping the focus on consumer lending regulation.
• Be a trusted advisor to the business and potential Responsible Manager for the ACL.
• Work closely with leadership to embed a culture of compliance while enabling growth.

What we’re looking for

• Consumer finance background (personal loans/unsecured lending). Experience that’s mortgage-heavy or purely commercial won’t be a fit.
• A practical operator who can get into the detail – not just a “big bank” background.
• Solid, hands-on knowledge of ACL, ASIC requirements, RG 209, NCCP Act, Privacy Act.
• Someone who thrives in a startup/scale-up environment, comfortable running compliance solo.
• A senior manager/“Head of” ready to step up, not already sitting at CRO/executive level.
