Job Summary: The Contracts Principal manages high-value and complex contracts, focusing on the entire lifecycle of NGSAs, GPAs, and GSAs. This role is responsible for negotiating terms, mitigating risks, and ensuring compliance, while also supporting auctioning, tendering, and spot sales activities.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
Contract Negotiation and Commercial Management

• Lead negotiation, drafting, execution, and management of NGSAs, GPAs, GSAs, transportation agreements, amendments, and related contracts.
• Negotiate gas pricing, Take-or-Pay, liabilities, force majeure, Energy Transition requirements, and ICV commitments.
• Assess buyers' acceptance of revised terms and optimize contracts to maximize revenue and mitigate risk.
• Support gas pricing and market development strategies aligned with national energy policies.

Gas Allocation and Commercial Evaluation

• Evaluate gas allocation requests using approved models and frameworks.
• Recommend allocations based on economic value, strategic priorities, gas availability, and policy requirements.
• Coordinate gas availability with Planning and support portfolio optimization through allocation prioritization, contract flexibility, and capacity utilization.
• Monitor energy transition trends, emerging markets, and regulatory changes impacting commercial strategies.

Approvals, Governance, and Compliance

• Ensure agreements comply with legal, regulatory, governance, and company requirements.
• Secure required approvals before contract execution and allocation commitments.
• Issue allocation decisions, contract awards, and executed agreements.
• Ensure compliance with contractual and regulatory obligations throughout the contract lifecycle.

Contract Renewal and Performance Management

• Manage NGSA renewals and renegotiations through an 18-month rolling outlook.
• Review extension requests and secure contractual assurances, including Bank Guarantees (BGs), where required.
• Monitor contract performance, compliance, and milestones to enhance commercial outcomes.

Auctioning, Tendering, and Spot Sales

• Support surplus gas commercialization through spot sales, auctions, and tenders.
• Lead RFP preparation, commercial evaluations, award recommendations, and contract execution.
• Manage tender processes and stakeholder engagement to ensure transparency, compliance, and revenue maximization.
• Identify opportunities to optimize gas utilization through the release of unused capacity.

Risk Management, Disputes, and Claims

• Identify, assess, and mitigate commercial, contractual, and operational risks.
• Incorporate contractual safeguards and risk mitigation measures into agreements.
• Manage disputes, claims, contract interpretation, and settlement negotiations.
• Support resolution of payment disputes, guarantees, non-receivables, and recovery actions.

Stakeholder Management and Reporting

• Manage relationships with buyers, producers, regulators, government entities, and internal stakeholders.
• Prepare commercial evaluations, reports, recommendations, and presentations for management and governance committees.
• Provide commercial advice on contracts, gas allocation, and market developments.
• Support Omanization through coaching, capability development, and succession planning for Omani commercial professionals.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in business, Law, or a related field; advanced degree or certification preferred.
• Minimum 12 years of experience in commercial, contracts, gas marketing, business development, or contract management roles within the energy sector.
• Strong negotiation, risk management, and leadership skills.
• Economic and Business Development Downstream knowledge/ experience is required
• Understanding of the Oman Gas Value Chain
• Experience in stakeholder management and presentations to Executive Leadership
• Working experience leading end-to-end processes related with Long Contract Management & Negotiations
