About the role
The Health Hub Optical Business is Queensland's largest independent Optometry practice, boasting an annual turnover of approximately $3.8 million. Our dedicated team of experienced Dispensers and Optometrists leverages the latest diagnostic technology to offer a comprehensive range of Optometry services and clinical interventions. As the Optical Business Manager, you'll report directly to the Executive Manager of Health Services. You'll be at the helm of our Optical business, overseeing operational functions, financial performance, and leading a talented team to foster a high-performance culture.
Key responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
- Develop and implement a successful Optical business strategy to enhance financial performance and meet service expectations.
- Lead and motivate a team of Optometrists and Optical Dispensers to achieve business outcomes and a high-performance culture.
- Manage human resources within the Optical business, including recruitment, performance management, and training and development.
- Negotiate/manage Optometry and supplier contracts as well as overseeing supply chain management to optimise stock levels, turnover, and overall business performance.
- Identify, set, report, and deliver on key performance indicators covering financial performance, quality, customer service, and retention.
- Review and streamline processes to achieve operational efficiencies, and implement change initiatives within the Optical business.
- Liaise with the marketing team to develop, deploy, and evaluate promotional campaigns for Optical business growth, while contributing to key projects and initiatives to support the broader organisational strategy and business directions
- Manage the Optical business's budget, ensuring accurate billing, credit control, and debtor processes, while delivering effective risk management and continuous quality improvement by maintaining up-to-date policies and procedures
About you
You are a passionate and experienced manager with a proven track record in operational excellence and leadership within the optical industry. Your understanding of modern optical business models and retail strategies complements your strong communication and project management skills.
A recognised tertiary qualification in business or a related field is essential. You should be adept at driving productivity, increasing revenue, and optimising work patterns. Leading and developing teams with emotional intelligence to foster a high-performance culture is crucial.
The role requires strong negotiation, consultative, and interpersonal skills. You must be able to liaise effectively with employees and clients at all levels while handling sensitive and confidential matters appropriately.
You thrive in a fast-paced environment, leading a team that collaborates to achieve the best outcomes for the organisation and its customers. You also seek to be part of a company culture that values both individual contributions and overall effectiveness.
