Site Engineer – Residential Construction

Highr is currently recruiting a Site Engineer on behalf of an established building contractor delivering a significant residential development in Dublin.
The successful candidate will join an experienced project team and take responsibility for the day-to-day engineering and setting-out requirements on site.
This is a permanent position offering long-term work in Dublin and excellent opportunities for career progression within a well-established contractor.
Key Responsibilities
- Site Engineering & Setting Out
- Carry out all setting-out requirements for the project, including housing units, apartment blocks, foundations, drainage, roads, utilities and external works.
- Establish and maintain accurate site control points, levels and benchmarks.
- Use Total Station, GPS and other surveying equipment as required.
- Check dimensions, levels and locations against approved construction drawings.
- Ensure works are constructed in accordance with drawings, specifications and relevant standards.
- Identify and resolve engineering or setting-out issues before they impact the construction programme.
- Carry out surveys and record as-built information throughout the project.
Site Coordination - Work closely with the Project Manager, Site Manager, Senior Engineer and Forepersons to coordinate daily site activities.
- Liaise with subcontractors to ensure works are completed correctly and in accordance with the programme.
- Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, civil engineers, M&E consultants and other members of the design team.
- Review construction drawings and identify discrepancies or potential technical issues.
- Raise RFIs and technical queries where clarification is required.
- Assist management with short-term planning and sequencing of works.
- Attend site and coordination meetings when required.
Quality Assurance - Ensure a high standard of workmanship is maintained throughout the project.
- Complete inspections and quality checks on ongoing works.
- Maintain QA documentation, inspection records and checklists.
- Ensure materials and workmanship comply with project specifications.
- Monitor concrete pours, structural works, drainage, utilities and other key construction activities.
- Record and maintain accurate as-built information.
- Assist with snagging, inspections and project handover.
Health & Safety - Promote and maintain high standards of health and safety on site.
- Ensure engineering activities and subcontractor works are carried out in accordance with site safety procedures.
- Assist with site inductions, method statements and risk assessments where required.
- Identify potential hazards and immediately raise concerns with site management.
- Work closely with the project Health & Safety team.
Candidate Requirements The successful candidate should have: - A degree or relevant qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering or a related discipline.
- Previous experience working as a Site Engineer with a building or main contractor.
- Residential construction experience is highly desirable.
- Strong setting-out experience.
- Experience using Total Station, GPS and surveying equipment.
- Ability to interpret architectural, structural and civil engineering drawings.
- Good understanding of residential construction methods and sequencing.
- Knowledge of roads, drainage, utilities, foundations and structural works.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with subcontractors and consultants.
- Good IT skills and experience maintaining site documentation.
Experience Ideally, candidates will have 2+ years' Site Engineering experience, although applications will also be considered from ambitious engineers with relevant main contracting experience who are looking to progress their careers.
Experience on large-scale housing, apartment or mixed residential developments would be particularly beneficial.
The overall package may include additional benefits depending on experience and the contractor's terms.
