Health & Safety Officer – Civils Construction
Locations: Donegal / Sligo / Galway
Salary: €50,000 – €65,000 
Employment: Permanent, Full-Time

We are recruiting an experienced Health & Safety Officer to join an established civil engineering contractor working across Donegal, Sligo and Galway.
This is an excellent opportunity for a safety professional with experience in civil engineering, utilities, roads, groundworks, infrastructure or water projects to join a growing contractor with a strong pipeline of projects across the West and North-West.

Key Responsibilities

• Promote a strong and proactive health & safety culture across all sites.
• Carry out regular site inspections, audits and safety observations.
• Ensure compliance with Irish Health & Safety legislation and company procedures.
• Prepare, review and update Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
• Deliver site inductions, toolbox talks and safety briefings.
• Work closely with Project Managers, Site Managers, Engineers and subcontractors.
• Monitor subcontractor compliance with project safety requirements.
• Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain all required Health & Safety documentation and site records.
• Assist with the preparation and implementation of project-specific Safety & Health Plans.
• Monitor plant, lifting operations, excavations, temporary works and other high-risk civil engineering activities.
• Ensure PPE, permits and safe systems of work are being correctly implemented.
• Provide practical Health & Safety advice and support to operational teams.
• Liaise with clients, consultants and relevant authorities where required.
• Travel between projects across Donegal, Sligo and Galway as required.

Requirements

• Relevant qualification in Health & Safety, Occupational Safety or a related discipline.
• Ideally 2+ years' Health & Safety experience within construction or civil engineering.
• Previous experience in civils, utilities, roads, drainage, water, groundworks or infrastructure projects is highly desirable.
• Good knowledge of Irish Health & Safety legislation and construction regulations.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Confident working directly with site teams, subcontractors and management.
• Ability to identify risks and provide practical solutions.
• Strong organisational and reporting skills.
• Full clean Irish driving licence.
