Senior Engineer
Location: Cork

Reporting To Project Manager / Construction Manager

 We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to join our residential construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical leadership across residential developments, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, to the required quality standards, and in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and programme requirements.
The role will involve close coordination with the Project Manager, Site Management Team, design consultants, subcontractors, and client representatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee engineering activities across residential construction projects.
• Set out works accurately and ensure construction complies with drawings, specifications, and relevant standards.
• Review and interpret architectural, structural, civil, and MEP drawings.
• Coordinate technical queries and resolve engineering issues with the design team.
• Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with approved designs and quality requirements.
• Carry out site surveys, levels, dimensional checks, and setting-out works.
• Prepare and review engineering documentation, records, and reports.
• Coordinate subcontractors and specialist contractors from an engineering perspective.
• Assist with construction sequencing, methodology, and programme planning.
• Identify potential technical issues and develop practical solutions.
• Ensure all works comply with health and safety, environmental, and quality requirements.
• Liaise with consultants, local authorities, utility providers, and other stakeholders as required.
• Mentor and provide technical support to junior engineers and site staff.
• Contribute to progress meetings and provide accurate technical and programme information.
• Assist with commissioning, inspections, snagging, and project close-out.

Requirements

• Degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 5+ years' relevant engineering experience, preferably within residential or housing construction.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, sequencing, and site engineering.
• Proven experience with setting out and surveying equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret construction and engineering drawings.
• Strong knowledge of relevant building regulations, standards, and construction practices.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to manage priorities and work effectively under programme pressure.
• Strong problem-solving and technical decision-making ability.
• Proficient with relevant engineering and construction software.
• Full driving license desirable/required depending on project location.

Desirable Experience

• Experience delivering large-scale residential developments.
• Experience working with reinforced concrete, foundations, drainage, roads, utilities, and external works.
• Experience coordinating multiple subcontractors and design disciplines.
• Experience with BIM and digital construction processes.
• Previous experience supervising or mentoring engineers.
