Job Title: Senior Estimator
Location: Swords, Dublin

Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join our commercial team in Swords. This role is responsible for leading the preparation of accurate, competitive, and commercially robust cost estimates for major building and civil engineering projects across Dublin. The successful candidate will play a key role in securing new work by managing the full tendering process and providing strategic input during bid development.
Key Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation and submission of detailed cost estimates and tender submissions for major building and appartments projects.
• Review tender documentation including drawings, specifications, and employer’s requirements to fully understand project scope.
• Prepare bills of quantities, take-offs, and pricing schedules.
• Obtain and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations to ensure competitive pricing.
• Identify project risks and opportunities and incorporate these into pricing strategies.
• Collaborate with bid managers, planners, engineers, and commercial teams to develop winning bid strategies.
• Attend pre-tender meetings, site visits, and client briefings where required.
• Present cost plans and tender proposals to senior management for review and approval.
• Support value engineering exercises to improve cost efficiency while maintaining quality and compliance.
• Maintain and develop strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams.
• Contribute to post-tender negotiations and handover to the project delivery team.

Key Requirements

• Proven experience in an estimating role within a Tier 1 or large regional contractor.
• Strong background in building projects, including infrastructure, commercial, or mixed-use developments.
• Excellent knowledge of construction methodologies, materials, and market rates.
• Strong analytical and numerical skills with high attention to detail.
• Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office (e.g., Excel, CostX, Conquest, or similar).
• Ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously within tight deadlines.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Professional membership (e.g., RICS, CIOB) is desirable.
