Full Job Description
We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for a dedicated and proactive Community Engagement Coordinator who is fluent in Turkish, to support community engagement efforts in Auburn, Sydney and surrounding areas.
This part-time role (20 hours per week across 3 days) focuses on strengthening relationships with culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities, particularly Turkish-speaking residents. The position includes outreach to community organisations, collaboration with ethnic medical practitioners, and the delivery of culturally tailored information sessions to raise awareness of the client's services.
Key Responsibilities
Community Engagement
- Serve as the main point of contact between the organisation and the Turkish-speaking community
- Build trust and promote awareness of available services
- Support and encourage community-based referrals to the organisation
Partnership Development - Establish partnerships with ethnic medical professionals, clinics, and community leaders
- Develop referral pathways to support community members in accessing services
- Foster collaboration and mutual understanding with stakeholders
Information Session Delivery - Plan, coordinate, and deliver culturally appropriate group sessions using prepared materials
- Tailor content to reflect the community’s needs and concerns
- Promote sessions via social media, local networks, and ethnic media
- Distribute promotional materials in community spaces (e.g., shops, libraries, health centres, MPs' offices)
Representation and Community Involvement
Represent the organisation at local events, community forums, and outreach activities
- Create and maintain a yearly calendar of relevant community events
- Participate in out-of-hours events as required
- Assist individuals in navigating services and accessing support
Administration and Reporting
- Keep detailed records of outreach activities, session feedback, and outcomes
- Translate and administer session evaluations when needed
- Submit weekly activity reports to the Operations Manager or designated supervisor
- Contribute to ongoing strategy development and service improvement
Key Requirements - Fluent in Turkish (spoken communication essential; written Turkish advantageous)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Previous experience in community engagement or outreach roles
- Understanding of multicultural dynamics and CALD community needs
- Ability to work independently and manage a flexible schedule
- Willingness to travel locally and attend events outside regular hours if required
- Must hold a current driver’s licence
- Applicants must have the legal right to work in Australia
Preferred Qualifications and Experience - Experience in aged care, disability, or health/community services
- Familiarity with NDIS, HCP, and other community service frameworks
- Experience with ethnic media and community promotion
- Basic IT and virtual presentation skills
Position Details - Rate: $30 per hour
- Hours: 20 hours per week (across 3 days)
- Location: Auburn, Sydney and surrounding communities (outreach-focused)
- Reporting: Weekly reports to the Operations Manager or delegate
