Home Health Intake Specialist - contract

Manage new patient referrals, verify insurance benefits and coordinate initial care setups. Serve as link between hospitals, families & care team.

Key Responsibilities

Receive and review incoming patient orders, faxes, and medical records from hospitals or doctors.

Check patient eligibility, secure prior authorizations, and confirm payer coverage.

Enter accurate demographic, medical, and billing details into the electronic medical record (EMR) system.

Schedule start-of-care visits with nurses or therapists and order required medical equipment.

Update patients, families, and referral sources on the status of their home care services.

Job Requirements

High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor degree in a health or business field preferred.

1 to 3 years of administrative, customer service, or insurance experience in a healthcare or home care setting.

Strong knowledge of medical terminology, basic ICD-10 coding familiarity, computer proficiency, and clear communication abilities.
