Job Duties:

• Receive, review, and process all incoming sales tax exemption certificates, resale certificates, and direct pay permits from customers and vendors
• Verify the validity and completeness of each certificate, ensuring it meets all state-specific requirements 
• Accurately enter, update, and maintain an organized, centralized database or system of all customer tax exemption documentation
• Ensure that the correct tax code is applied in the invoicing system for all sales that are designated as tax-exempt
• Organize and prepare all exemption documentation for easy retrieval during internal or external sales tax audits

Key Skills Required:  

• Exceptional Attention to Detail: Critical for correctly reviewing and validating complex, state-specific tax forms
• Organizational Skills: Necessary for managing and tracking a large volume of certificates and expiration dates
• Communication Skills: Must be able to clearly and professionally communicate with customers to request sensitive tax documents
• Technical Proficiency: Experience with accounting software and strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel 
• Foundational Accounting Knowledge: Basic understanding of accounting principles, A/R, A/P, and the nature of sales and use tax
