We are partnering with a leading Western Australian council to find an experienced Risk and Strategy Specialist to play a pivotal role in embedding strategy, risk, and governance across the organisation.
  
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to lead the implementation and continuous improvement of the organisation’s Strategic Planning and Risk Management Frameworks. Working within a forward-thinking Corporate Services team, you’ll drive a culture of strategic alignment and risk-informed decision-making.
  
You’ll also be responsible for coordinating the Internal Audit Program, partnering closely with business units and external providers to ensure robust internal control environments.
  
Key Responsibilities

• Lead the implementation and refinement of risk management policies, standards, and practices.
• Maintain and enhance the strategic risk register in collaboration with business units.
• Champion a culture of risk-aware decision making across all levels.
• Deliver training and build internal capability in both risk and strategy.
• Oversee the Internal Audit Program and liaise with the internal auditor.
• Facilitate branch planning activities and track performance indicators aligned to the Council Plan.
• Support strategic planning technology and reporting platforms.
• Work cross-functionally to embed strategy into operational practices and plans.

  
About You:
You’re an experienced governance, risk or strategy professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and enjoys seeing frameworks come to life through practical implementation.
  
You will bring:

• Formal qualifications in Risk Management or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of internal risk control frameworks and best practice.
• Demonstrated experience running workshops and building organisational capability.
• A proven ability to translate strategy and frameworks into action.
• High-level communication, interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Familiarity with TechnologyOne (ERP) is a bonus but not essential.
